James Watt Primary School is a good school with a ‘thirst for the highest standards for all is well embedded in school life’ (Ofsted March 2019), situated in the Handsworth area of Birmingham. We are a two-form inner city school who have recently joined the Cadmus Federation of Schools.

 We are looking to recruit an inspirational and passionate Assistant Head Teacher with Early Years’ experience to lead Early Years, Key Stage1. The position will have a part time teaching commitment and the successful candidate will be trained to become a designated safeguarding lead. This is an excellent opportunity for further professional development and to play a significant leadership role in continuing to raise standards.

 We are looking for a Leader who:

  • is an outstanding, dynamic classroom practitioner with an excellent understanding of EYFS and Key Stage 1, and how children learn
  • inspires children to be curious about the world around them and motivate them to achieve their full potential
  • can develop children’s language and communication skills
  • raises aspirations and improves the life chances of all children
  • is committed to working with parents
  • can build positive relationships with colleagues and further develop practice
  • is able to use assessment data to monitor pupil progress and implement appropriate interventions to raise standards
